This armor comes from Poland around the 16th century. It is called Hussar armor, I don't know much about it though. I think it would be cool to "reproduce" it in leather for our sport. What do you think. here's a link with more pics and info. www.polishhussarsupply.com/Armor.htmlI really like the aesthetics of the helm design. I think the "wings" would be difficult, dangerous and easily broken which would necessitate omission.

The armor is awesome, but the wings are the defining piece.
I think it could be figured out. If V'Hil and the Uruk-Hai could put together backflags, I think we could figure something out with the Hussar wings.

I was thinking about Uruk-Hai's backflags as well. I just think this kit is friggen cool. Could you imagine how bad ass you'd have to be to go into battle with wings on your back. I mean it's kinda like saying, "Here I am, now try and kill me".

ya, use heat bent pvc, painted, then use a fabric to present the wings. other than that it is just lamallar with an arm cannon.

From the little I know about armor (which is very little) I would not call that lamellar. It looks more like an articulated torso. I was under the impression that lamellar was lots of little pieces that overlap.

I'm pretty sure he was thinking Lorica and mis-typed.

Gottcha. If I ever have surplus income again, I'd like to start work on the helm, paldrons and bracers. It won't be earlier than the new year, but how much leather would I need? Would it be better to buy enough leather to do the whole thing or just the helm and arm canons. Just in case I completely lose interest in the project.
Video of the suit in action.

From what I've read, the armor is called an anime (no relation to Japanese anime). Here's a link: www.geocities.com/normlaw/page7.htmlScroll down to almost the bottom of the page. You'll see a version of Hungarian anime on the right.

Cool read and good to know. It seems that anime is more of a general term for the reintroduction of the segmented armor into Europe. It also seems to refer to the sliding rivet design of the plates. While the Hussar is a more specific term for the group of people who used the particular winged horsemen design.
