The tents. When I say Hydra, I'm pretty sure I mean Bo, but yah. Like 4. They were awful.

Huh, that's kind of cool. What was so awful about them? The canvas tents I saw and slept in were pretty nice compared to nylon. They didn't heat up to a billion degrees in direct sunlight either- made naps possible.

I am a little shocked they were awful, I adore mine, and my old one too...I sleep in them at work all the time, and they are wonderful...maybe I am just use to what ever it was that made them awful...

The tents Jimmy is referring to were amazing to occupy during the event. However cleaning, assembling, and taking them down int he rain was what I would call less than fun.

Yes taking them down in the rain is a bit of a pain, and the upkeep of them is also not fun, and if there are many I can understand that, I just replaced my old one with a new one when I was no longer able to upkeep the old one...though I found that a swiffer cleans them off pretty well

Wilhelm's Viking tent is pretty cool from what I've seen of it. Tis canvas too. Need to see how he transports it and take down/setup yet though.

No, that's not even what I'm talking about, the fact that they had no bottom on the edges. They were cold as hell when I was on the floor. Especially when the wind blew right under the edge.

Its looking like I'll get all my projects done it time! I've finished 3 tunics, gotten a good start on the fourth, halfway finished a corset, and I need to make 2 skirts. I have a week left!

Ooooh...yeah, they definitely need the sod flaps and a ground cloth, otherwise you get that wind/drainage problem. Admittedly, it's a 10" strip of canvas all around the inner edges, but it's amazing how much of a difference that makes.

Yes, the sod flap and ground cloth make a HUGE difference, I normally will not buy a canvas tent with out them, though this new one does not have them. I have slept in both canvas with and with out the sod flap and ground cloth... it doesn't bug me as much I guess...but i think thats cause I have a -40C rated sleeping bag and 10 LB wool blanket that I camp with. I just like the way they look, and the feel they give off...on another more exciting note... 1 WEEK TILL FEST!!!!!

Random post...sort of. I've had an idea of something to make with old sword...or probably other weapon covers. Been doing a poor job of collecting any. If anyone has any, let me know! Rips and tears are fine. If covered with mud...then maybe not so much. Able to clean is nice.
