Going to be making another order from Tandy in the next week or two. If anyone is interested, I'd be willing to make a few peices of armor over break pretty much at cost. I have to charge a minimal amount for labor or my fiance would slay me. Hit me up on here or facebook if you're interested.

also, if you're new, wait a while before donning some armor.

Don't wear armor until you've been fighting for a while. I would say revisit the idea after you've been fighting for a year. Just look at me, I went from fully armored everywhere and now I never wear anything but grieves. Even those I seldom wear unless it's an event. I'm a better fighter for it too. Armor makes you lazy unless you already know what you're doing.

Yeah, not to jump down your throat all at once, but people who start fighting with armor tend to develop more bad habits than fighters who start with without armor.

Ok got the message! Lol I got some leather bracers from the renfaire, but that's it. Or you can wear them, and just not call them. That seems to be overlooked A LOT when talking to new people about wearing armor. Honestly, wear armor if you feel like it. Or buy it when you feel motivated and have the disposable cash now, because you never know if you will in the future. If armor seems like something that you're interested in and is something you see yourself fighting with, then go for it. Best thing I found to do is see if you can bum a piece your interested in and see if it works as well as you think. I borrowed greaves for a day at a mini event (friend wasn't using them), didn't call them but found I didn't get hit in the legs as much as I thought I would. I always wear my arms- I paid for the things, I'm gonna wear them. I just don't call it as armor. Gets you used to wearing it, the weight, range of movement, heat, etc, looks cool, makes the game look cool, and doesn't develop the bad habits that relying on armor can sometimes bring. If you're planning on armoring up, it's also amazing how much different you fight when *not* armored as well.

I actually do the same thing when I wear mine. Fighting in armor without counting it helps eliminate some of the risk of it being a crutch, I think.
All I do to get counting armor back to a reflex is start counting it for a couple sparring sessions prior to an event- which also helps people we're bringing with back into the mindset of fighting armored opponents.
