So, I bit the bullet and bought one of these www.valkyrieforge.com/cup_hilt.html to mess with, and see it it can be modified/fitted to a bel sword, will post results, impressions of it when it arrives. Any advice, input that people would like to offer would be awesome. Thanks

Seen them in foam. Theyre absolutely terrible.
Seen them in leather. Theyre better, but you get weird looks.

kyrian had a surgical tubing one, covered in tape that seemed safe and functional. the sword was heavy though due to a square core if memory serves.

When I first started fighting seriously, I had a surgical tubing one, in fact, it was the first blue I made. Hilt worked fine, blade eventually failed.
