Hey- seeing as you guys (that being Clan of The Hydra) are damn fine spearmen, I was wondering...
I'm new (2 1/2 monthes fighting) and at Oktoberfest, I noticed in line battles that spearmen would put the head of the spear and push on the line between light and enough to count as a "hit". Or, they'd poke you lightly and then push. What counts as what? I called light on it once because I didn't think it counted (trying to pierce my arm) and the guy got sort of pissy with me. Anyway, I figured you guys would be able to give me another outlook on it. I talked to the vets and they said I was right, but I wanted to get a spearperson's view on the situation.

if it is hard enough to move you it is a hit. if i pushed a real spear hardd enough to move your arm it would go in your arm and injure you. a push of a point is as bad as a trhusty stab motion. basically if it is a solid pressure take it, if they called double or 2 it goes through armor.

Agreed. Even if the initial touch is a little light, if it remains in contact and jabs you but good, it's still a hit. Think of the latter scenario you described, Porthos, as two separate hits. One light, one solid. For the first scenario (the line between light and a hit), as always, it's your call. And spearmen should know well enough that spears glance easily and will be called light often. If it just brushed your arm, you were right, but as Bo said, if it moved you, it's solid.
When all else fails, if you make a call and someone gets pissy, go and find them after the fight and talk about it, apologize, whatever needs to happen. They'll at least be happy that you made that effort.

Cool- thanks. I talked to the vets in my realm and it never hurts to get another opinion, y'know.
