I'm not quite sure if this is the same one I'm thinking of but I'll throw it out there:
Tree of life Scenario: The marshal will announce the size of the teams (1 person, 2, 3, etc.) The battle starts out as a meatgrinder--every person for himself. When a fighter dies, he walks to the designated regen point. Once there are the required number of fighters to form a team, they head out as a single team.
Rules: No running to the regen point. The game continues until the marshal announces that the regen point is closed. At that point, everyone will fight until only one team is left standing.

we do a two man against the whole realm. the two men keep regenerating, but no one else does. we see which to men can do it in the least amount of time.

that's attackers and defenders for us.... but its not always just two men. it depends on the number of defenders... there is a certain ratio we go for (but i'm not sure which exactly...)

I think this game is where we pair off and when you die you come back with someone else at the regen point. I was hoping to change this to 3 man or 4 man teams to improve our skirmish abilities when the line is broken

yes, bo is right on what it is.
yeah, 3 man regen would be fun too. or 4. but ya gotta do two every once in a while if not most of the time.
What Kyrian wrote is pretty much what we do, but by a different name.
