Go chain metal armor. Does scale count as rigid metal?

Go chain metal armor. Does scale count as rigid metal? The thing is, though, that chain doesn't really do much for dispersing impact especially when it's directly against the body. It's most effective against cuts, slashes, and to a lesser degree, stabs. Solid plates that disperse the energy over a larger area along with padding are probably the most effective means for reducing the chance of hand and finger injuries.

Scale counts as rigid still since it's metal. Also that's not something that would make a good glove (or so I think).
Honestly I think your best bet are the lacrosse gloves shepherd. I'm not the best voice on this though as I've separated every knuckle in my hand from this sport and shattered my thumb in seven places. I still don't use gloves because I'm stubborn and set in my ways. On the plus side, after all this bad stuff my hand bones are super hardened now.
I would not suggest my method.

Yeah the armored gloves I posted above look pretty slick, and are comparably priced with off the shelf lacross and hockey gloves.
As far as look, you can customize the color scheme on lacrosse gloves but if you're not going to order a butt load of them it's pretty pricey

The ones you have linked to here are going for $64 and I got the Lax gloves for $30. I will keep an eye out for more alternatives. There's a F&F out here and they have a lot of biker gear - I will see if they have anything similar.

I think I might get a pair of these. A guy I know uses these for rapier and longsword fencing. I've gotten to handle them, and they're pretty good. Has protection built into the hilt been considered? I don't know the exact rules, but a basket hilt kinda like thesehttp://woodenswords.com/WMA/singlest.htm (on a bel sword, not a rattan of course) might work well, especially if combined with good gloves.

Nothing against them in the rules. I've seen a few nice ones done in the past, and had one in the works for a little bit but never really finished the project.

You could probably use the plastic cups (http://houseasgard.com/BaldarBlunts/#cuphilt) but not the metal baskets. You'd probably want to courtesy pad it too.
